All plants must have deep roots before they can grow wild
A culinary garden focused on small-scale sustainable growing located on the North Shore of Massachusetts
Our Mission
Wildly Rooted is a culinary garden focused on small-scale, sustainable growing. Our mission is to connect with and care for the land and environment around us, and to share beauty and food with our community.
We currently grow microgreens, edible flowers, cut flowers and specialty crops and sell them to local chefs, restaurants, specialty stores and to our local community through pre-orders and pop-up events. Coming soon — in 2024 we will be offering our first ever Micro CSA and joining the Gloucester Farmers Market with our friends Backyard Growers.
Our Land
Wildly Rooted uniquely specializes in regenerative, no-till farming on just under one acre of land in Essex, MA. We farm by hand, without the use of fossil fuels or harsh chemicals.
We utilize natural and sustainable fertilizers such as compost (sourced locally from our partner Black Earth Compost), seaweed sprays and fish emulsions. We reuse planting trays and other materials whenever possible. Additionally, all of our packaging is 100% commercially compostable, utilizing soy and algae-based inks, corn-based plastics and recycled kraft paper. We believe that what is good for us is good for the environment and vice versa.
Our Founder + Grower
Wildly Rooted was founded in 2023 by Hannah Lawson, a lifelong North Shore resident. Hannah’s love for farming began more than 10 years ago — driven by a deep desire to educate herself about our climate, local food system, alternative farming methods, and the interconnection between our health and the health of our environment.
Today, Wildly Rooted stands as a testament to Hannah's dedication and as a celebration of the wild beauty and flavors that nature has to offer.
Micro CSA
Micro CSA
Join our Fall Micro CSA featuring (9) weeks of late season microgreens and field crops from late September through November. Now available in full and half share sizes with pickup locations in Essex, Manchester by the Sea, Gloucester and Newburyport.
Microgreens
Microgreens are young, edible plants harvested at an early growth stage. These tiny greens are packed with nutrients, often containing higher vitamin, mineral, and antioxidant levels than their mature counterparts. Their vibrant colors and intense flavors add both aesthetic appeal and a burst of nutrition to a variety of dishes.
A sampling of our 2024 offerings: mustard greens, arugula, broccoli greens, rainbow radish, beet greens, kale, basil, dill, chervil, borage, purslane, amaranth, marigold gem and shungiku.
Edible flowers
Edible flowers add to any meal with their vibrant colors and intricate designs. They also introduce unique flavors, textures and aromas.
A sampling of our 2024 offerings: calendula, nasturtium, bachelor buttons, pansy / viola, mixed gem marigolds, giant orange marigolds, sweet alyssum, flowering sage, lavender, dill and cilantro.
Cut flowers
Farm cut wildflowers celebrate our connection to the land. They are food for the soul, bringing nature’s beauty and joy into our homes and onto our tables.
This season we are delighted to launch our flower donation program. Each week we give flowers to local organizations to offer a bit of joy to those who would benefit most.
